About the excursion

Traveling with Bānītis – the only regularly operating narrow-gauge train in the Baltics – you will experience a slow and emotional journey combining railway heritage, natural landscapes, and local traditions.

We can plan a 1–2 day personalized trip for a family or a group of friends! During the trip, you will explore Alūksne Castle Island and the Tempļakalns Tower, take a ride on the “Marienburg” boat or the “Severīns” train (in summer), and in winter enjoy horse-drawn sleigh rides or a gingerbread baking workshop. You will discover Stāmeriena Castle, a church with crystal crosses, and Litenes Manor Park, while in Gulbene, visit the Bānītis depot for a handcar ride and the steam locomotive “Ferdinands”. The trip will be complemented with delicious meals and the hospitality of local hosts.

You can also combine the journey with bike rides, horseback riding, or a leisurely nature hike through forest trails.
